Tenaya's Midwifery Services

Families desiring the care of a midwife prenatally and during the postpartum but choosing to give birth in the hospital can arrange Midwifery Support for their planned hospital birth.  Midwifery care will be provided at home and doula care will be offered at the hospital. 

Families desiring experienced doula support for their hospital birth can arrange Labor Support care.  Two prenatal visits allow time to plan and prepare.  Two postpartum visits help to ease the transition back home.

Visits take place in your home.

Postpartum Care

Tenaya comes to your home in the first few weeks after a new baby is born and provides:

• support for the mother to rest and recuperate
• advice on newborn issues
• newborn care
• breastfeeding guidance
• emotional support
• referral and information 

Depending on the family’s needs postpartum care may also include practical help such as:

• meal preparation
• grocery shopping and errands
• laundry and light cleaning
